Costuming Survey - 600-1600 A.D. – FAS02A02

Estimated Length of Class: 1-2 hours, depending on level of detail given for each period

Course Description: This class is an overview of clothing worn throughout the SCA time period (600-1600 A.D.). The student will be exposed to images of various styles of clothing worn throughout the SCA period, as well as general clothing terminology and vocabulary specific to construction of clothing.

Learning Objectives: By the end of this class, students should be able to:

1. Understand the difference between clothing and costume;

2 Identify various styles of clothing by general time period (1200s, 1300s, etc.);

3. Identify various styles of clothing by general culture (Norman, Elizabethan, Gothic, Italian Renaissance, etc.);

4. Recognize various period clothing terminology/vocabulary.
