FAS06A04 Persian Three-in-One Pattern

Level of Content: Novice with Some sewing experience.. Students should already have a basic familiarity with sewing and using a pattern.

Estimated Length of Class: 1 ½ to 2 hours.

Course Description: This is a hands-on class that will talk about the basics of the 14th Century Persian clothing. This particular pattern was developed by SCA players from the limited period garments available. This one pattern used for the three basic Persian garments - under tunic, undercoat and overcoat. We will talk about the different kinds of fabric used in 14th Century Persian garments as well as some accessories. We will also allow the students to measure themselves for their own pattern.

Learning Objectives:

1. Understand the importance of color in 14th Century Persian clothing.

2. Understand how to build a pattern for these particular garments.

3. Learn skills on pattern-building for future projects.

4. Learn what fabrics are best used for this style dress.

5. Learn about the appropriate measuring skills for this pattern.
