10 Gore Coat Hardie - FAS06B01

Level of Content: Intermediate. Students should already have a basic familiarity with sewing and using a pattern.
Estimated Length of Class: 1 hour.
Course Description: This is a hands-on class that will talk about the basics of the Coat Hardie as a staple garment of the 14th Century Woman. We will talk about where this particular pattern came from, we will allow the students to trace their pattern and we will talk about how to build your own pattern. We will also talk about fabrics, undergarments and accessories in the 14th Century.
Learning Objectives: By the end of this class, students should be able to:
1. Understand the importance of the Coat Hardie as a 14th Century Garment
2. Understand how to build a pattern for this particular dress.
3. Learn skills on pattern-building for future projects.
4. Learn what Fabrics are best used for this style dress.
5. Learn about the appropriate undergarments and accessories that accompany this style.
