Course Description: This class teaches the students how to do basic the basic of blackwork including blackwork stitches (back stitch and running stitch), reading a blackwork pattern, supplies required for blackwork and preparation of sewing surface. It also includes a brief history of blackwork and a list of blackwork resources.

 

Learning Objectives: By the end of this class, students should be able to:

Perform the basic double running stitch and back stitch.

Read and follow a blackwork pattern.

Begin a small blackwork item for practice.

Be aware of the uses of blackwork “in period”.
